The aim of the short course is to make use of the R software in applying statistical methods in health sciences. R is a free open-source software used widely in statistical analysis with publishable quality graphs. R software is being used as one of the most popular programming language among statisticians and data miners. it has numerous statistical libraries which will enable us to do more advanced statistical methods and has continuous update on emerging statistical applications. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to understand the R environment, basic statistical analysis and graphs using R.
Who can participate?
The short course is intended for the participants with under graduates/Post graduates degree in statistics or basic training in fundamentals of Biostatistics with experience in statistical packages such as SPSS/STATA/SAS. This first two days is designed for those interested in learning R for basic statistical analysis. The third day is devoted for advanced R programming and advanced statistical analysis. The third day may be suitable for the participants without proper statistical training and suitable for post graduates in statistical/biostatistics/public health or well-trained epidemiologists.

Course fee Rs. 6,000/- (Six Thousand only -Inclusive of 18% GST) should be paid in full by 23rd March 2020. Payments can be made by Demand Draft in favor of “Christian Medical College Vellore Association Account”, Payable at Vellore. The number of participants is limited to 40 and registration will be done on first come first served basis. Course fee includes Course Material, Lunch and Refreshments.
Participants will have to bear their own expenses for travel, boarding and lodging. Organizers may arrange basic accommodation with A/C facility in the college campus on request. Only limited accommodation is available and hence the preference will be given to the female participants. Also, list of hotels in Vellore has been provided below. Those who would like to stay outside, please contact them directly to book your accommodation.
